Lumberton High School was one of 10 schools and educational programs to receive a grant from Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) Ag Mechanics Grant Program.
The $2,500 grant was awarded to the school to increase students’ knowledge of agricultural mechanics and metal technology skills.
“This grant will provide funding to meet the need in trade school classrooms and allow students to graduate from high school with skills that can be directly transferred to agriculture and supporting industries,” McKenna Bush, TFB Youth Outreach coordinator, said.
Educators can use the funds for additional resources to provide the necessary equipment for student learning and help foster a deeper understanding for how mechanics and technology work alongside agriculture.
“We are thrilled to be chosen as a recipient of a TFB Ag Mechanics Grant. This grant will further the hands-on opportunities provided to our students in the field of ag mechanics, with the purchase of new welding machines and materials. This will allow our students to further their education, and skills needed for success in the industry,” Julie Spivey, Lumberton Ag Science Teacher.
