A groundbreaking moment in healthcare education took place as six high school students officially signed their letters of enrollment into Lamar State College Orange’s (LSCO) inaugural dual-credit Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program. In a special ceremony surrounded by family, friends, district administrators, and counselors, these students took the first step toward making history—and shaping the future of nursing.

This milestone marks the beginning of a two-year journey, where these dedicated students will complete their high school education while simultaneously training to become Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs). Upon graduation, they will not only receive their high school diplomas but will also be fully licensed and prepared to enter the workforce as skilled healthcare professionals.

"Welcome, future nurses," said Mandee Tucker, Dean of Nursing and Health Professions at LSCO, as she addressed the students during the ceremony. "This is a huge step to heal, comfort, and advocate for those in need. Nursing is more than just a job; it’s a calling. We have no doubt you will become incredible nurses."

The significance of this program extends beyond these six students. It represents a pioneering effort to bridge secondary education and professional training, opening doors for young learners to step into high-demand careers immediately after graduation.
