Talking Book Program
The Texas Talking Book Program (TBP) provides free library services to eligible Texans who are unable to read standard print due to a visual, physical, or reading disability. Students who qualify can access thousands of audiobooks, braille books, large-print materials, and magazines at no cost. Eligible participants may also receive a free digital talking-book player or download books using the BARD app. The Talking Book Program helps ensure that every student has access to engaging, accessible reading materials that support learning and foster a lifelong love of reading.
Bookshare
Bookshare is a free online library that provides accessible ebooks and audiobooks for students with qualifying print disabilities, including many students with dyslexia, visual impairments, physical disabilities, and other reading challenges. With more than one million titles, students can listen to books, follow along with highlighted text, adjust font size and colors, or read in braille using compatible devices. Bookshare helps students access grade-level content, improve reading confidence, and become more independent learners. Eligible U.S. students can join at no cost.
Understood
Understood is a free online resource designed to help parents, caregivers, and educators better understand learning and thinking differences, including dyslexia. The website offers expert-reviewed articles, practical strategies, videos, and tools to help families recognize the signs of dyslexia, navigate evaluations, understand school supports, and build their child's confidence. Understood empowers families with reliable information and resources to help every child succeed both in school and at home.
International Dyslexia Association (IDA)
The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) is a trusted nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with dyslexia through research, education, and advocacy. The IDA website provides parents with reliable, evidence-based information about dyslexia, including its characteristics, early warning signs, effective reading instruction, and available supports. Families can also access helpful fact sheets, educational resources, and practical guidance to better understand dyslexia and support their child's reading success at home and at school.
Neuhaus Education Center
Neuhaus Education Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving literacy outcomes through evidence-based instruction grounded in the Science of Reading. The organization provides resources for families, educators, and students, including information about dyslexia, structured literacy, reading intervention, and literacy development. Learning Ally
Learning Ally is a nonprofit organization that supports students with dyslexia and other reading challenges by providing access to a library of human-read audiobooks. Learning Ally also offers resources for parents and educators to support reading success both at school and at home.
