Emergency Management
At Lumberton ISD, the safety and security of our community is our top priority. Our dedicated Safety and Security team is committed to creating a secure environment where all students and staff can thrive. LISD works diligently to take proactive measures to protect our students, staff, and facilities.
The following list is just a glimpse into the robust Safety and Security initiative at LISD:
Proactive Measures - Training and Education Education is key to safety. Our commitment to awareness ensures everyone knows how to contribute to a safer environment. The Safety and Security team offers regular training sessions for staff and substitute teachers equipping them with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in various situations.
Collaboration with Authorities LISD works closely with local law enforcement and emergency services to enhance our security protocols. This allows LISD to stay informed about the latest trends in safety and security, ensuring that our practices are effective.
Open Communication We encourage an open dialogue about safety concerns. Our department is always available to address questions and feedback, fostering a culture of transparency and trust within our community.
Continuous Improvement Security is an ongoing process. We regularly review and refine our policies and practices, leveraging the latest technology and best practices in the field. Our commitment to continuous improvement means we are always striving to enhance the safety of our environment.
Parent Guidance Lumberton ISD has established emergency and safety plans for each school in the District. The plans are coordinated with police, fire, and county/state officials and address both human-made and natural hazards. The plans are reviewed and revised annually and after each emergency. Emergency drills are conducted throughout the school year and will be communicated using the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) language across all campuses. WHERE CAN PARENTS GET INFORMATION DURING AN EMERGENCY?
Chances are you will not be able to reach the school by telephone in a real emergency and it is not advised to go to the campus. The District will, however, be making every effort to contact parents.
The District will post updates throughout the course of an emergency on the LISD website and social media accounts. The media will be contacted and kept up-to-date on all developments, and will be asked to broadcast important information needed by parents, just as they do when inclement weather forces school closings. Information may be disseminated through the School Messenger system calling home numbers, cell numbers and sending emails.
WHAT CAN I DO TO PLAN AHEAD?
The two most important things you as a parent can do are to make certain your child’s school has up-to-date emergency contact information, and to periodically review with your child alternative arrangements you have made in case an emergency prevents you from being at home.
HOW WILL LISD COMMUNICATE?
LISD will communicate to parents in several different ways to ensure that information reaches parents. School Messenger Email, text, and phone call notifications will be sent first. If necessary, information will be posted on the LISD official Facebook page. LISD will also communicate with local news channels to help disseminate information to a wider audience, if necessary.
