Lumberton High School Dual Credit College Classes


Academically strong high school seniors who meet the eligibility requirements may enroll in dual credit classes at a college/university.  Interested students must meet with the senior counselor for advisement.

 High school students seeking early entry to Lamar University must meet the following requirrements:

  1. Complete an early entry applicatio for admissions form
  2. Submt copy of high school trascript
  3. Submit PSAT, SAT or ACT scores
    • Minimum Scores PSAT - 800 , SAT - 800, ACT (COMP) - 16
  4. Submit scores from THEA. Scores that exempt a student from THEA are:
    • SAT (Composite Score ---1070) Minimum 500 Verbal, 500 Math
    • ACT (Composite Score --- 23) Minimum 19 Verbal and 19 Math
    • TAKS Exit Level ---2200 ELA with a 3 on writing and 2200 Math

In addition to Lamar University requirements for distance learning classes, there are Requirements that Lumberton High School students must meet to be successful. They requirements are:

  1. Must have made 85+ in English 3 AP class or 90+ in a regular English 3 class
  2. Must have a 3 or higher on TAKS writing composition
  3. Discipline and attendance will be checked
  4. Final decision will be made by a committee consisting of: Principal, Counselor, English Teacher and the D/L facilitator.

2). The only classes that may be taken for dual credit are listed in the "College Classes Offered for Dual Credit".  Befpre enrolling in a dual credit/college class, the student must have permission from the building principal to take the class. Permission forms are available from the counseling office.
